Have you ever wanted to become a Pokemon Master? Of course the answer is yes, but the biggest question is... what kind of Pokemon Master do you want to be? Some seek to collect every single Pokemon that exists, others want to treat Pokemon equally to humans and lastly, some wish to make their Pokemon the strongest.

This is a story about three childhood friends on a quest to become Pokemon masters.

"Hey! Get up already!" shouted a voice on the ground floor. Ryan slept away unmoved by the constant calls from his mother. Ryan's mother glances at his Fletchling as it bounced across the kitchen chirping.

"So it all comes down to this huh?" The innocent Fletchling tilted its head and flew upstairs to its owner, landed on his chest and gave him a "wake up call".

"It's about time he got up," his mother laughed.

Ryan got dressed and quickly came down, his Fletchling perched on his shoulder. "I hope you haven't forgotten that letter from Professor Sycamore, right?" his mother asked.

"Of course not! How could I forget about the highlight of today?" Ryan's eyes beamed with life. He grabbed his bag and slipped it on his left shoulder.

"I can't believe you have grown up so fast! Sixteen and going on an adventure! Please be careful out there," his mother said as she gave him a big hug. He could feel her shaking. "Promise me that you'll come back, okay?"

"I promise."

Vaniville Town was a small town in the south of Kalos. As Ryan stepped outside his house, two of his friends greeted him. Jordan, a male fourteen years of age, his black hair at shoulder length and bright green eyes, and Kristen, a girl with long black hair. Ryan's two friends were standing almost uncomfortably close to each other, just like brothers and sisters usually do.

"How could you have overslept on an important day like this?" Kristen crossed her arms. Jordan pointed at her shoe "Kristen, umm Viscora is getting a little too close... "

"Oh right, I haven't introduced her to you yet." She picked up what looked like a blob, Ryan recognized it as a Goomy. "Now your Fetchling has a friend on the journey, this is Viscora.. she tends to cling onto me."

Just like her to have a Dragon type already, Ryan thought to himself.

"Anyway, we mustn't wait any longer guys, I have the gift that the Professor gave us," Kristen said as she took three Poke Balls out of her bag. The three Poke Balls contained three Pokemon; Froakie, the Water-type Pokemon. Fennekin, the Fire-type Pokemon and lastly Chespin, the Grass-type.

"Since Jordan hasn't got a Pokemon yet, I say he should choose first," Ryan suggested. Jordan thought for a minute and finally he picked one. "I pick Froakie, Water types seem pretty relaxed." Ryan couldn't decide which one to pick, but he already knew what Kristen would choose. "I'll take Chespin then, she seems like a strong one." Kristen let out a cheer and cuddled her new friend Fennekin.

"Hehe, I'm going to call you Fynx!"

"Why do you always name your Pokemon?" Kristen stopped in front of Ryan and frowned.

"Because if you name your Pokemon, you feel a closer bond with them." Ryan never understood her sometimes, naming your Pokemon doesn't make them stronger. He rolled his eyes.

"I challenge you to a battle!" Kristen jerked back from the sudden challenge.

"Sure, why not!"

Ryan knew this match won't go well since his type advantage is bad but he wanted to know the difference between his view and hers. They both had two Pokemon, and Ryan thought that he could out power Kristen rather than rely on types.

"Are you ready Kristen?" Ryan asked, patting his Fletchling, still on his shoulder. "I'm always ready, R-dawg!" Kristen said rather sarcastically.

"Don't call me that!" Ryan laughed, knowing she won't stop calling him that.

Kristen threw out her Poke Ball and Fennekin came out. "Come on Fynx! We can do this!"

"Alright Fletchling, we can do this!" Ryan yelled as Fletchling flew off his shoulder and onto the grassy field. "Use Peck!"

Fletchling flew directly at Fynx, beak first. It hit Fynx right in its face. "Alright, Fynx, use Flame Charge!" Kristen shouted. Fynx's body started glowing and fire spouted from its fur. Fynx charged at Fletchling, tackling it to the ground.

"You're pretty good, Kristen. Fletchling use a Quick Attack!"

Fletchling flew to Fynx, slamming it's body into it.

Fynx got knocked back a bit, but regained its balance and was waiting for Kristen's orders.
"Fynx, use an Ember!" Kristen ordered. Fynx shot fire out of its mouth, hitting Fletchling, burning it. Fletchling fainted. "One down, one to go!" Kristen said cheerily. Well, great, Ryan thought, I'm screwed. He sent out Chespin, knowing that Fynx will simply use a Fire-type move and probably faint it in one shot.

"Fynx, use Flame Charge! Finish him off!" Kristen yelled. And Fynx did just that. The Flame Charge knocked Chespin out immediately. "You're good. Congrats, Kristen," Ryan said. "Come on guys, we gotta get moving," Jordan said, healing Kristen and Ryan's Pokemon with Potions and Revives. "Where did you get those from?" Kristen asked. "Don't ask," Jordan replied mysteriously.
